Bush Admits Fault

For the first time in his presidency, President Bush admits he made a mistake. The President took responsibility for the failure of the Federal Government to adequately respond to Katrina. This is a dramatic change from what seemed to be the President's belief in his own infallibility. I remember well his comments during the Presidential Debate here at Washington University, where he flatly denied that he ever made a mistake. I think continuing to read My Pet Goat on 9/11 is just one example of a mistake. I think looking for non-existent WMDs was a mistake too.

So you can understand my skepticism of this admission of guilt by our President. Either someone just explained to Mr. Bush the meaning of the word "mistake," or the administration is trying to salvage any shred of political capital they can muster.

I like commentary, like I like criticism. As long as people are thinking, I'm happy :D

Or, because while reading "My Pet Goat" to little kids, he either can do two things:

1) Leave the room telling the kids that there was a terrorist attack and he had to go see to it.

or

2) Keep reading, trying to remain calm while thinking of a plan.

He was in a VERY awkward position when 9-11 happened. The first terrorist attack since the Oklahoma City Bombing, and his first attack since being President, I'm sure he was trying to think of something while staying calm. Now, this doesn't mean I support president Bush, but it just means that in the situation he was in, he chose the one that would cause the least amount of panic.

No, there was already plenty of panic. And he wouldn't have to tell the children anything. All he says is, "Excuse me boys and girls, my friend just told me that I have to leave right away." He chose the option that took the least action. He was a deer caught in the headlights.

I'm sure you would be too if you found out that nearly 3k people died in a terrorist attack. I wasn't surprised that his inital reaction was shock.

that doesn't mean he can be shocked for a long time, but being shocked for the first couple of minutes im sure is normal.

The rules are different when you're President. You can be shocked, but you have to go take care of the situation, not sit and be shocked.
